sometimes when my brain is being dumb and needs to do something repetitive and mindless, I’ll go to random higher traffic tags and report the jillion bots that are all posting the same few links and chase that dopamine

usually I tend to find sites algorithmic suggestions of content “based on your likes [history]” to be annoying/fairly flawed, but the tumblr ones (specifically the posts in the dash feed that are tagged ‘based on your likes’) seem to just be like “posts from blogs you’ve liked/reblogged before from other people” which is more like giving my dumb brain a helping hand because it was hyperfocused on the scroll and didn’t go to look at the post’s origin. 

also super appreciate that most options/features are actually toggleable unlike most other sites, and how granular some of that breakdown can be (e.g. not just turn on/off suggestions, but to the degree of your orbit/your likes/ people you follow likes). and yeah, having to turn off the live option each week is kinda annoying, but it’s still better than that option not being available at all

i love this stupidly wonderful trashsite and its embracing of that without ruining the user experience and you will pry it from my cold dead hands
